Seuss classic "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," one of the top selling children's books of all time, is now available for your Android device. After playing with this and "The Cat in the Hat," I would definitely consider buying more in the Dr. As with any book, electronic or otherwise, a bigger screen always helps. I tried this on both an EVO 4G as well as a Galaxy Tab, with the tablet providing a much more immersive experience. Handing the book over to my 7-year-old son, he was able to open the app and get started without further direction. These are subtle touches that go a long way. On Christmas morning, readers can hear music coming from the village of Who-ville at the same time as The Grinch. Crumpit feels a tad colder when you can hear the whistling winds way up on high. Sound effects and music are present throughout the story, adding to its ambience. Skipping forward and back is as simple as swiping the screen from side to side. The main difference between autoplay and having the story narrated is the ability to turn pages when ready. Options include reading the story on your own, having it read to you, and autoplay. Words are highlighted in red as the narrator reads them aloud and can be reread with a quick tap. For instance, tapping on a characters or item within pictures, yields the pronunciation and spelling. Intuitive from the first time it is opened, the app acts exactly like one would hope. The interactive, digital version of the book feels very comfortable and familiar complete with the original artwork. All in all, a colourful, well performed film, not as good as the 1966 animated classic, and flawed it is, but actually one of the better Dr Seuss adaptations. The classic story of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" has come to Android and it translates quite nicely. The script is patchy in places, but there are a number of very funny bits, and it was nice having some character context about the Grinch. Everyone else was fine too, particularly the girl, and while he is no Boris Karloff Antony Hopkins does a good job as the narrator. How The Grinch stole Christmas is very colourful, with great set design, and an unrecognisable Jim Carrey was terrific as the Grinch, he was actually really funny, not like Mike Myers who was miscast as the cat in Cat in The Hat. Honestly if you thought this is terrible, and I completely respect anyone who thinks that, I warn you Cat in the Hat was much worse, and gets my vote as the worst Dr Seuss adaptation ever. I will admit I was a bit sceptical of the remake, but other than some slow scenes in the middle half and a patchy script, this film is surprisingly good. Of course it isn't as good as the animated classic, an immensely charming, beautifully animated gem, that is a family Christmas favourite.
